Soraia Unveils the Fiery New Single ‘So Holy’ from Their Upcoming EP
Philadelphia’s garage-punk firestarters Soraia return with a vengeance, premiering the video for their latest single, ‘So Holy.’ The track is a riotous anthem, slashing through self-righteous hypocrisy with razor-sharp riffs and vocals.
Recorded in Sweden with legendary producer Tomas Skogsberg (The Hellacopters, Entombed), the single is the first taste of their forthcoming EP, ‘Confessions From The Vena Cava’—a title that speaks to both the lifeblood of rock ‘n’ roll and the band’s own creative revival.

“We had a lot to say on this one,” says frontwoman ZouZou Mansour. “It’s about breaking free from expectations—both from society and within ourselves.”
“We were on tour last year with our good friends from Detroit, The Idiot Kids. Their singer, Jon-Mikal, and I (ZouZou) are such good friends, and we find it easy to talk about everything—from the state of the world to the state of our minds to our personal lives.
One day, we were sitting in the green room, both feeling pretty despairing about all the injustices we were seeing and experiencing—from extremist government agendas to personal persecutions tied to either our religious or cultural backgrounds. For many reasons, I felt I couldn’t speak about it openly. I also felt silenced by my own hand but found great relief in talking with Jon-Mikal about it all. I needed to speak my truth—not hide who I am as a person or artist—but I also needed to feel safe in doing so. We were both sick to death of watching it all go down.
A few weeks later, Jon-Mikal asked if I’d be open to a song idea he had written based on our conversation. Of course, I was! He sent me the music and chorus for ‘So Holy.’ Originally, I thought this would be a great collab project between our two bands. But as I wrote, I felt a well of truth and relief come from me—speaking from the voice of another, one that wasn’t my own personal experience. It was an easy write. I had much to say.
Travis and I recorded the demo and sent it back to Jon-Mikal. After a few more back-and-forths, the song was ready to be recorded. It is the perfect first single for a release where we feel unshackled by others’ expectations of us. We are, truly, free.”
Soraia channels the feral energy of The Stooges, Joan Jett, and The Cramps, fusing snarling punk attitude with anthemic hooks. ‘So Holy’ swaggers with a twisted Pixies-esque bassline, jagged guitar leads, and a scathing takedown of those who hide behind morality as a weapon.
