After Ours Shares Bittersweet Anthem ‘One Last Time’ from Upcoming Album ‘Imaginary Friend’
After Ours, the project of New Jersey-born artist Kayla Janowitz, shares ‘One Last Time’ today, the second single from her upcoming debut album ‘Imaginary Friend,’ out June 6 via Acrophase and Secretly Canadian.
It’s a glossy, synth-kissed anthem built for blasting while you finally cut ties with someone who couldn’t figure out how to love you right. Both biting and bright, the track captures the unique emotional balancing act Janowitz pulls off across the entire record, where pain, humor, and self-awareness sit side by side.
‘One Last Time’ has been years in the making. Janowitz first wrote it in 2021, recorded a voice memo, dropped it in GarageBand, and let it simmer. “It was the first song I wrote that I felt stoked about,” she says. Now re-recorded with producer Josef Kuhn, who helmed the full album, and mixed by Al Carlson (Jessica Pratt, Weyes Blood), it has evolved into a confident, full-bodied pop statement. The accompanying video adds a playful macabre twist, like a gothic rom-com for the brokenhearted.

If this track is any indication, ‘Imaginary Friend’ is going to be a reckoning—sharply observed, emotionally raw, and impossible to forget.
