Common Holly unveils ‘Aegean blue’ | New Album, ‘Anything glass’
Montreal’s Brigitte Naggar, aka Common Holly, is ready to challenge listeners with her debut studio album ‘Anything glass,’ set for release via Keeled Scales and Paper Bag Records.
Along with the announcement, she shares the reflective single ‘Aegean blue,’ a song that blends soft folk with evocative imagery like “make me a river I can run through” and “who will do better, the one with the candle or the paddle?”
Influenced by Bill Callahan, Mount Eerie, and Leonard Cohen, Naggar describes the track as “a reckoning in meaninglessness and unending pursuit,” reflecting the album’s themes of reevaluating and doing things differently when they no longer feel right. The album’s live recording process, with layered vocals added post-performance, gives the song an immersive quality, inviting listeners to slow down, reflect, and feel. ‘Anything glass’ is poised to encourage exactly that.
For Naggar, ‘Aegean blue’ represents more than just a song. As she explains, “A reckoning in meaninglessness and unending pursuit. The words came in a moment of change and of reevaluating.”
