Marketplace Preview Upcoming EP ‘Marketplace Mean Business’ with Fizzy New Single ‘Contact Sports’
Hartlepool’s brightest indie-pop export Marketplace are back with ‘Contact Sports,’ a sugar-rush single bursting with giddy guitars, nervy charm, and lyrical whiplash.
It’s the sound of falling into something (or someone) way too fast — and convincing yourself you’re not. Produced by Chad Rodgers (Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Cape Cub), it captures that thrilling early-days panic of a romance you’re definitely not catching feelings in. Definitely not.
Marketplace channel the relatable chaos of The Beths and the jangle-kissed euphoria of Alvvays, but twist it through their own oddball sincerity. Vocalist Evie Rhodes delivers every line like a secret she just remembered, backed by bright guitar hooks and a tight rhythm section that feels like it’s sprinting to keep up with its own feelings.
With UK tour and debut EP ‘Marketplace Mean Business’ on the way this June, the five-piece are quickly proving they’re a band with a pulse, a point of view, and a penchant for turning emotional near-misses into fizzy, infectious pop gold.
