Ways Of Seeing explore the weight of devotion on ‘Idolise’
Cork’s Ways Of Seeing push deeper into shadowy, atmospheric territory with ‘Idolise,’ a propulsive new single from their upcoming sophomore album, ‘The Inheritance of Fear.’
A heady blend of shoegaze haze and alt-rock urgency, the track signals a rawer, darker shift from their debut ‘End Comes To Light.’
Produced by Christian Best (Mick Flannery, O Emperor) with additional mixing by Daniel Fox of Gilla Band (Sprints, Lambrini Girls), ‘Idolise’ layers hypnotic drum patterns, pulsing bass, and intricate guitars that oscillate between overdriven grit and shimmering elegance. The vocals are commanding—part theatrical, part haunting—giving the track a spectral, hook-laden intensity.
Lyrically, it dissects the danger of putting someone on a pedestal. “Idolization can blind you to red flags, creating imbalance and self-erasure,” the band explains. It’s a theme that runs through The ‘Inheritance of Fear,’ an album that aims to uncover hidden truths—both personal and political—through expansive soundscapes.
With support from Nialler9, The Thin Air, and national radio, Ways Of Seeing are poised for a massive 2025.
